  • Since West Essex Regional Schools did not use all of its allotted snow/emergency closing days this year, the West Essex Regional Board of Education has decided to use two of the District's remaining emergency days to lengthen Memorial Day weekend. West Essex Regional Schools will now be closed Friday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 28. School will reopen Wednesday, May 29. Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!

  • West Essex Regional Schools sadly mourns the loss of one of its alumni, Christine Ann Fritz (Thorsen), a member of the West Essex High School Class of 1996. Mrs. Fritz passed away on May 13, 2013 after an 18-month battle with gastric cancer. She was 34 years old. Mrs. Fritz is survived by her husband Tony Fritz, two young children, Victoria, age 3, and Alyssa, age 1 1/2, sister April, who was a member of the West Essex High School of 2001, and sister Shaun, who also graduated from West Essex, her father Glen Thorsen and her mother Beverly Thorsen. Ms. Fritz graduated from Penn State University in 2000 and worked as a claims adjuster in Clark, NJ. She lived in Linden.

  • School Board Candidate Petitions are available at the Essex County Clerk's Office for the November 5, 2013 Election.  There are three open positions on the West Essex Regional Board of Education in the following towns: 2 Three-year terms in North Caldwell and 1 Three-year term in Roseland.
    Nominating positions for election to the West Essex Regional School District Board of Education are available in the Essex County Clerk's Office, 465 Martin Luther King Blvd., Room 247, Newark, NJ, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    "School Board Candidate Kits" may also be obtained online at www.njsba.org. Each kit includes a nominating petition, information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member. Information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the election process are also included.
    Nominating petitions must be filed with the Essex County Clerk on or before 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
